A Door Back to Reality

In the garden I walked with you
bare foot and naked
in perfect fellowship
in love
just being
not needing to see
not needing to know
at rest.

Then evil whispered
"you must do to become
just reach out and take it on yourself"
become a God
know


I reached out my hand to try
I found the fruit to be tasteful
but something sinister took hold
not just of me but the whole world

Now I knew, therefore I had to be
all that was covered became unveiled
to my eyes nothing was whole
Now I was shame
now I was condemnation
now I could not find rest

But then God gave a promise
a savior to restore
a revelation to be seen
a door back to the reality
I had known

For the day when my children
will know
the peace
the rest
restored
when they will cease
to live to be
and once again be free
to know they are.
